How to Restore a Terminated Hosting Account from WHM Backup

If a hosting service has been terminated but a backup is available, you can restore and reactivate the account by following the steps below.

Step 1: Restore Backup from JetBackup (WHM)

  1. Log in to WHM as root.

  2. Navigate to:
    JetBackup → Orphan Backups (Orphan List)

  3. Locate the terminated account from the backup list.

  4. Select the latest available backup.

  5. Click on Restore.

  6. Wait until the restoration process is completed successfully.

⚠️ Make sure the restore process finishes without errors before proceeding to the next step.

Step 2: Unsuspend the Account

  1. In WHM, go to:
    List Accounts

  2. Search for the domain name.

  3. If the account is showing as suspended, click Unsuspend.

Step 3: Update Service Status in WHMCS

  1. Log in to WHMCS Admin Panel.

  2. Go to the client’s Products/Services section.

  3. Change the Service Status to Active.

  4. Save changes.

Step 4: Final Verification

After completing the restoration:

  • Check the website loading status.

  • Verify database connectivity.

  • Confirm email accounts are working.

  • Ensure SSL certificate is properly installed.

  • Review error logs if needed.
