Sometimes, you may want to allow a specific IP address to always have access to your server (for example, your own office IP) and prevent it from being blocked by the firewall. In WHM, you can easily whitelist an IP using CSF (ConfigServer Security & Firewall).
Step 1 – Collect the Client’s Public IP Address
Before whitelisting, you need the client’s public IP.
-
Ask the client to visit a website like:
-
They should provide you the IPv4 address (e.g.,
203.0.113.25).
Step 2 – Log in to WHM
-
Open your browser and go to:
-
Log in using your root username and password.
Step 3 – Open CSF (Firewall)
-
In the WHM search bar (top left), type ConfigServer Security & Firewall.
-
Click on it to open the CSF management page.
Step 4 – Add the IP to Allow List
-
Scroll down to the section csf – Quick Allow.
-
Enter the IP address you want to whitelist (e.g.,
203.0.113.25). -
Optionally, add a short comment (e.g., Client Office IP).
-
Click Quick Allow.
This adds the IP to the /etc/csf/csf.allow file and ensures the firewall will not block it.
Step 5 – Restart Firewall
-
After adding the IP, scroll down and click Restart csf+lfd to apply the changes.
-
Wait a few seconds until the firewall restarts successfully.
Step 6 – Verify
-
The whitelisted IP should now be visible under Allow/Deny Settings.
-
The IP will have permanent access and won’t be blocked by the firewall.
